I am amazed and thrilled to be able to say I have spent over 30 years as a disc jockey. I’ve traveled throughout southeastern Michigan bringing my unique style of DJing to thousands of receptions. I seriously love what I do and I am honored that people include me in their special day.
I run a computer-based DJ system. If you are familiar with professional audio gear, I’d be more than happy to explain in detail the additional equipment I use; I love my rig!

My sound system is professional, reliable, and can accommodate the sound requirements in almost any room. In addition to having great equipment that is routinely checked to make sure it’s in proper working order, my backup gear is built right into my rig. And yes, I understand how my gear works and how to troubleshoot any problems that may arise. Although after 30 years in the business, some guests still think they can trip me up with technical questions. I welcome their inquiries because I can always use a good laugh.

I love being part of the wedding ceremony. There is an extra charge if you need an additional sound system for the ceremony if it is in a separate location, but most couples have a six- or seven-hour event, which I cover from start to finish with everything included.
Absolutely! In fact, my cocktail and dinner sets have become somewhat legendary around town. Venue staffs often pay me the highest compliment by saying no one plays the music I do and let’s face it; these vendors have heard plenty of cocktail and dinner music over the years.

My music sets the tone from the moment your guests arrive, and much like the music for your dance floor, it should represent who you are as a couple. Whether you prefer indie artists, whose songs aren’t always suitable for a dance floor, the soulful sounds of Motown to honor your Detroit pride, or the swanky Rat Pack old standards; the bottom line is that every couple is different and your music will always be customized to reflect your taste.

Ah…no. I’m not a jukebox. My experiences have taught me that the best and most personal playlists come from sitting down together and taking the time to discuss how you want your night to unfold. We’re a team and we will build a list based on what I have learned over 30 years and what you know about your friends and family. Think of it this way: your music is the last element of your wedding that your guests will hear and remember. What kind of lasting impression do you want them to have?
Yes, if you want me to. A common complaint I hear from couples is that at weddings they’ve attended the DJ would only play a handful of guest requests and in some cases was even rude about being asked to play a request in the first place. Playing a guest request is just another way to take care of your family and friends for you. Unless it’s on your ‘Do Not Play’ list, I play it; even when I think it might drive everyone from the dance floor. Most of the time I’m pleasantly surprised because just the opposite happens and I have the perfect comeback for friends and relatives who ask for something I know you don’t want to hear. So you can rest assured I will never throw you under the bus and tell a guest that you refused to play their song.
Yes, and I’ve done plenty! Including this element is another great way to honor your family’s heritage and perhaps teach some of the newly added members and guests why the traditions are important and what they mean. This Irish/Scottish DJ will always defer to you, your family members, or a friend who can assist me in understanding what will work best with your specific culture’s needs and traditions to honor them properly.
Just like music, the right lighting can really set the mood, but I’m a Disc Jockey. I have lighting that will cover your dance floor, but if you’re looking to create a specific look, it is my professional opinion that you should spend a few extra dollars and hire a lighting specialist to design and illuminate your reception properly. I can highly recommend some fabulous companies that can help.
There are three scenarios where I am willing to work for less than my standard, flat-rate fee:

Winter. Michigan is cold — especially in January and February, which means most vendors, myself included, will offer you a discounted rate for their services. You can use the money you save to put toward a fabulous honeymoon somewhere warm!

It’s the 11th hour. Plans change or come together at the last minute. When you find yourself in either situation, give me a call.

Saturday afternoon. I get to have a real person Saturday NIGHT off!

Weddings are personal and private events. It would be very inappropriate to have someone “look in” on someone else’s wedding reception. I never, ever break this rule, and promise that no one will come into your reception to check me out and take me away from your day. You have paid good money for my undivided attention and frankly I would question any entertainer who thinks it’s okay for you to crash a private wedding. Instead I would invite you to set up an appointment in my office where we can discuss your specific entertainment needs.

Read my client reviews on WeddingWire or in the Applause section of this website to see why no one has better clients than I, and why I am so very grateful that they have taken the time to thank me.

I play awesome music. Seriously, time and time again my clients and professional wedding vendors have complimented me on my ability to read the room and play exactly what people want to hear. It’s an internal instinct I’ve refined over 30 years in this business and it’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I will never resort to using cheesy gimmicks, and above all, I will never, ever embarrass a guest or put pressure on them just to get bodies on the dance floor.
